Fonty Carthel

My name is Fonty Carthel. I was raised in a farm family in a German community outside of Plainview. I am a Lutheran and a lifelong resident of Plainview and Hale County, Texas. After graduating from PHS I married Ivy Waggoner who was a crush since I was twelve. I began a career in agriculture and later construction. In 2001 I bought a business in rental of light and heavy construction equipment. I retired in 2023. My farming and business background, my family, and my faith in God has shaped me with an independent spirit and conservative values.

The Values That Built a Strong America and a Free Texas.

Republicans believe that freedom and responsibility go hand in hand.

When individuals are empowered to take charge of their lives—without excessive government interference—families grow stronger, businesses thrive, and communities flourish. Personal accountability, hard work, and the liberty to pursue your dreams are the foundation of a prosperous America and a proud Texas.

These timeless principles are what made our nation—and our great state—exceptional. From the rugged independence of our pioneers to the entrepreneurial spirit of today’s Texans, liberty and personal responsibility have always been the driving forces behind progress. At Hale County GOP, we’re committed to preserving those values for future generations.
